maruja cachay

1951-2013

Maruja, a Peruvian/Brazilian/Canadian painter, embarked on a journey from Rio de Janeiro to New York City in 2001 and later to Montréal in 2004. Her Andean heritage from Cajamarca shaped her artistic vision, emphasizing colors and the distinct light of her homeland. With numerous group and solo exhibitions, color remains pivotal in her creative process. For two decades, she has imparted her expertise through "Oficina do Olhar," enlightening students on chromatic tension, pictorial space, and artistic language.
